Quite possibly, we'd say the very best
Of features that the internet hath brought
Is knowledge that somewhere, someone's been blessed
With an extraordinary time. I've sought
(But not too hard) to see just who, today,
Could claim that title, and I find it's Mur,
That Mighty Girl. When she popped in to say
The word count she had reached exceeded her
Top record for one day, and wasn't done
(Nine thousand and six hundred words!), my jaw
Dropped just a bit, then later found her run
A truly Lowellan twelve thousand. Awe?
Try reverence, and really not a little!
And Mur, I'll take the one that's in the middle.

In Which My @Laroquod Is Now One Year Younger Per Our Agreement

A time walker's a hard man to pin down,
But in this world at least, today doth mark
An anniversary. He's been around
A bit, my Laroquod, and did embark
Upon his journey on this day back when
The moon bore not our footprints quite yet. He,
Has mastered certain skills that other men
Have only dreamed of, and he brings to me
Things new and old I've never seen before
(That queue deformer), and I never might
Were not for him. And there is so much more
I'd tell you but it's more fun to incite
Him to show you himself, pull off his cowl
And let him loose. All I can say is: HOWL!

In Which Is Celebrated The Birthday Of A Legend
Know ye not it is Zzyzx's birthday now?
He goes, it's true, by other, common names,
Like David Steinberg, though I don't see how
That tells you more! Oh, how I miss our games,
The saying of the "Qwok," the strange road trips
To go watch Phish or other bands at play.
When'er the Muppet Show comes on, how skips
My heart - 'tis how we met on one fine day!
We had the greatest indoor soccer team,
And Plumb Awful the best band e'er at Bard.
When Spandex gave him knowledge in a dream
Of how mankind might be saved, though 'twas hard,
Did Zzyzx falter? No; the gospel spread!
The goldfish angel never shall be dead!

In Which I Contemplate The Naughtiness Of The Science Of Astronomy, Or At Least (Certain) Astronomers Who Engage In #DirtyScience
When properly construed ev'rything's lewd
So did Tom Lehrer teach, and he is right.
But I am not the type to just conclude
On faith that something's so, and so one night,
With sev'ral chosen friends (well, volunteers)
With all due spirit of free inquiry
And scientific method, and yes, beers,
And a commitment 'gainst casuistry,
We tried to prove the study of the skies
And stars and planets, galaxies and suns
Could be as dirty as we want. Archives
Alas, are incomplete, and so reruns
For future ref'rence may have to take place,
And for posterity, more #dirtyspace.
