In Which I Have No Idea Who The Other Dude Is But Gary Oldman Is In A Beautiful Suit And So I Swoon

Steampunk I'm known to like, it's true, but there's
Some things I like e'en more, like men in suits
And Gary Oldman; news that someone cares
To notice this is sweeter than the fruits
Of e'en the plummest trees. Just look at these!
There's more o'er at the site. O Prada, now
You have got my attention, sort of. Please,
Are there more photos somewhere, more somehow?
It's greedy of me, I know. Does it hurt
To ask though, really? I mean, gosh, that cape,
And that Van Dyke. I sit up straight, alert,
And lean far forward, better thus to gape.
He's come a long way, no, from playin' a punk?
Now, cough, excuse me, I'll be in my bunk.

Sonneteer's note: many effusive thanks to April Raines, who saw this and thought of me and alerted me instanter.

This one included because it is EssJay's favorite. Purple stripes on teh Gary. Hubba and also hubba.

No Wonder @Ghostfinder Likes Groundhog Day!

My co-author and much admir'd net-friend
Is now become a slightly older man.
This Groundhog Day, the shadow's not the end
Of what we have to celebrate. A fan
Of Adam's "voodoo steampunk" writings, I
Most certainly am. They've got style and verve,
Lovecraftian and them some, but this guy
Has many other tricks to help unnerve
His readers. On his birthday, I am proud
To sing his praises, though I tap my foot.
He owes me our next chapter. I am loud
And rude to say it here, know he will put
The pedal to the metal just as soon
As he's done with his new novella. Swoon!

In Which CAPTAIN SWING Makes Me Sing

When Warren Ellis cranks out some steampunk,
I queue right up; I do not hesitate.
A vacuum tube, a brass gear and I'm sunk,
I rise to it like hungry trout to bait.
Now comes a new one, Captain Swing, who packs
A gun that fires off "glowing clockwork" slugs,
Who sports electric goggles, and who lacks
For nothing to show up as foolish thugs
The Peelers and the Bow Street Runners; and
Does all this from a flying jolly boat.
Raulo Caceres has lent a hand
Again, and as in GRAVEL gets my vote.
I now await the other three bits of
Another comics series that I love.

BONUS SONNET: In Which I Geek Out On Some Steampunk Voodoo

A clockwork universe is what I crave,
The most of all when fiction's what I seek.
Machine oil, steam, and heroes who behave
Like gentlemen when helping out the meek.
These make me smile, so Adam Christopher
Was at a great advantage from the start.
In Devil in Chains mighty deeds occur
By men with a surfeit of brains and heart,
But nothing supernatural; they're just
Men who use ingenuity to fight
A Lovecraft horror dwelling 'neath the dust
On Britain's Isle of Man. It's a delight!
Oh how I love the romance of steampunk.
I want to fly next time. I've packed my trunk.
