My Dreamer's Thread runs long and all throughout
This world of mine, and currently it weaves
Into a shameless tapestry; I'll shout
For Starla's awesome basket (who believes
These contests can be real, now, anyways?).
The story was great fun for listening,
And playing a small voice part in -- a craze
'Mongst all the cool podcasters, quite the thing.
If fairy tales were e'er your bag, you owe
Yourself a listen, though now you can get
A printed one, or ebook, dont you know?
And hold on to your socks, for you can bet
King Cyrus and his crew will charm them right
Off your two feet (but 'twill be a delight).

In Which I Trip All Over A Pile Of Superlatives Cluttering Up My Office Floor, Or Guiness Is REALLY Good For You
It took a man in Hong Kong to get through
To me that this was going on. Hoorah!
Forget the Cylon Toaster. I've a new
Obsession: winning this. I'm filled with awe
To be alive for this event. That my
Most fav'rite brew, Guiness, and fav'rite place
Can come together in this way means I
Already feel I've been launched into space.
My thoughts race at near-orbital speeds and
I all but scream my joy at the mere thought.
My eyeballs roll, I grab on with one hand
To steady myself at my desk. I ought
Not to be too surpised that it is they
Who'd think to celebrate in this great way.

BONUS SONNET: In Which I Try To Win A Poster For Duncan Jones' MOON Movie
I do declare: the geekiest of things
On my agenda's writing sonnets on
Assorted geekeries. The joy this brings
Is glorious. I haven't yet withdrawn
From any challenge: write on Battlestar
Galactica with Peanuts characters?
On watching telescope repair afar?
On building Magic decks and how this stirs
Imagination more than playing does?
On taking Mom and Dad to see Star Trek
And what a great experience it was?
To these and more I have said what the heck,
Poured out my love in merely fourteen lines.
And in this task all that I love combines.

Why I Don't Want To Win A Special Edition Helvetica Moleskine Notebook
I have no love for that sans-serif type,
Helvetica, nor for the foreign-made
Moleskine notebooks. I do resist the hype
Around them (oh no! I have been betrayed
By that small stack of them upon my desk,
My NaNoWriMo project for '08;
Ignore that, please). But I'll join the burlesque.
In these hard times I tend to place more weight
On where a thing is made. Take those FIELD NOTES!
They're tiny, practical, FUTURA BOLD
And made in this here country where I votes!
But Moleskines are pretentious, boasting old
And arty, famous use, a pedigree,
A lineage that's better off, sans me.
